HP Laptop BIOS Update Issue
Recently I had to work on an HP laptop (HP Notebook – 15-dw1083wm) and determined to run Windows updates. A BIOS update was also available as part of the optional updates, which I decided to include it. I have run these updates many times with no issues but not this time.
The update started fine and took initially about 5 minutes and then the screen became black and waited and waited and waited for maybe about 15 minutes with nothing on the screen. Then eventually decided to power it off and hoping something would come up but again nothing.
A lot of articles and HP docs state to press Windows key + B and hold it until bios recovery comes up after powering on. Still nothing.
Then I decided to take out the battery, which requires disassembling the whole laptop. Still nothing even after holding down the power button to clear the settings.
The solution for no post after bios updates on HP laptops
The BIOS update seems to take a long time and you have to give it at least 30 minutes even though there is no indicator or anything on the screen. In my case, I put the laptop together and turned it on and left it on for the night. The next morning, it was at the login screen. Go figure…..
