You could be browsing the web and then all of a sudden you are asked to download a plugin and you thinking that it is needed, you click to allow it. Then in just a few seconds one thing after another is downloaded and you have opened the door to your computer for all kinds of malware. You see all kinds of registry optimizers, backup solutions and even advertisements more than ever before. This is the case where your computer is now infected and vulnerable to attacks.<\/p>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][mk_divider style=”padding_space” divider_width=”full_width” margin_top=”20″ margin_bottom=”20″][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][mk_fancy_title tag_name=”h2″ style=”true” color=”#393836″ size=”14″ font_weight=”inhert” letter_spacing=”0″ margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”18″ font_family=”none” align=”left”]\n

So what can be done to prevent this?<\/p>\n[\/mk_fancy_title][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/1″][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]Here is just a brief list:<\/p>\n

  1. Keep your operating system up to date.<\/strong> Set your Windows Update to update your computer automatically or check your computer weekly or biweekly for any new updates.<\/li>\n
  2. Update your Adobe Flash Player.<\/strong> This would be the case if you are still using Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. I suggest that you actually switch to using Google Chrome, which automatically updates the Flash Player. It is actually built in to Chrome.<\/li>\n
  3. Update or uninstall Java.<\/strong> Java is an application that is needed for certain functions in the computer. Unfortunately, since it is so widely used, it is also very vulnerable. The best is to simply uninstall it from Add\/Remove Programs and see if you need it. If you do not, then that is safer. If you still somehow have to have it, update it only when you are not actively browsing the web i.e. if you are on the web e.g. on Facebook and then you are asked to update it, do not do it from there. Update it from the taskbar on the bottom right. Also, when you update it, make sure you uninstall the extra options on the subsequent screens.<\/li>\n
  4. Use common sense.<\/strong> If something does not look right, do not click to allow it.<\/li>\n
  5. Have kids use their own PC.<\/strong> In some cases if you do banking on your computer and the kids play games on the same computer, it is best if the kids use a different inexpensive PC. It is very easy for kids to download all kinds of stuff on the PC.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n[\/vc_column_text][mk_fancy_title tag_name=”h2″ style=”true” color=”#393836″ size=”14″ font_weight=”inhert” letter_spacing=”0″ margin_top=”0″ margin_bottom=”18″ font_family=”none” align=”left”]\n

    What if already infected with malware?<\/p>\n[\/mk_fancy_title][vc_column_text disable_pattern=”true” align=”left” margin_bottom=”0″]\n

    In this case you will need to run a bunch of tools to clean it. It also depends on what spyware and malware is in your computer at that time. \u00a0It is also important to understand that unless you completely wipe out everything, it is not for sure that your computer is malware free.
